Our Environmental Policy

Sunlight through a sustainably managed forest representing responsible paper sourcing

At Ashley House Printing, we combine our passion for print with caring for the planet, with environmental protection at the heart of what we do. From using green energy to sourcing sustainable materials to having a Zero Landfill Policy in place, our business and processes are as environmentally friendly as possible. We do everything we can to reduce our carbon footprint whilst helping others reduce theirs with our eco-friendly printing solutions.

Every project we handle is produced in a sustainable way. Unlike other printing companies, there are no additional charges for using eco-friendly materials because we make sure that every project is produced to the same sustainable standards. We are a Carbon Balanced Printer, offsetting our entire operational carbon footprint through the World Land Trust. We also contribute to many carbon balancing schemes on all the paper we purchase, contributing to the World Land Trust, the Woodland Trust, Forest Carbon, and Woodland Carbon.

Our Zero Landfill Policy ensures that we recycle and reuse rather than create unnecessary waste. Any waste we do create is always recycled appropriately. We use a 100% green energy supplier and have installed low energy lighting throughout the factory to actively lower our energy consumption where possible. We also control noise emissions from our machinery.

We train our employees on environmental issues and encourage them to walk, cycle, catch the train or car share to reduce emissions on their commute to work. We also provide every member of our team with sustainable packs to discourage single use products. These include reusable shopping bags, water bottles and coffee cups, as well as wooden pens and pencils.

We are proud to support the work of some brilliant environmental charities and organisations, including Surfers Against Sewage Ocean Network, the World Land Trust, and the Woodland Trust. We are proud to be Forest Stewardship Council (FSCĀ®) accredited and affiliated with the World Land Trust, the Woodland Trust, Forest Carbon, and Woodland Carbon, ensuring that all the paper we purchase is certified Zero Carbon.

We are the largest contributor to the Woodland Trust scheme in the South West, purchasing at least 60 tonnes of carbon captured paper every year. One tonne of paper purchased equates to 1,854m² of new woodland planted and half a tonne of COā‚‚ captured. As well as using sustainable paper stocks, we also use vegetable-based inks and eco press room products, meaning everything we print is eco-friendly.

We frequently get involved with the work of the charities and organisations we support to help raise awareness of environmental issues and actively help make the world a greener place, from planting trees with the Woodland Trust to beach cleans with Surfers Against Sewage.

With the aim of becoming a plastic-free business, we have eliminated the use of plastic packaging. Our orders are packaged in non-plastic alternatives or biodegradable solutions. As well as making changes ourselves, we challenge our suppliers about their use of plastic packaging to raise awareness throughout our supply chain, encouraging them to find alternative and more sustainable methods.
